“More Than A Club”: Stanley Nwabali Breaks Silence After Chippa United Exit

Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has officially closed the curtain on his time at South African Premier Soccer League side Chippa United, ending a four-year spell by mutual consent on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

Nwabali departs the Chilli Boys after making 76 appearances and recording 25 clean sheets, establishing himself as one of the club’s most reliable figures.

His stock rose massively after his heroic performances for Nigeria at the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire, where the Super Eagles marched to the final.

Transfer rumours followed swiftly, with reported interest from England, Saudi Arabia and PSL giants Kaizer Chiefs.

Despite the noise, Nwabali stayed put, signing a new three-year deal in August 2024.

However, with over a year still left on that contract, both parties have now agreed to go their separate ways.

Taking to Instagram, the 29-year-old penned an emotional farewell, describing Chippa United as “more than a family” while thanking teammates, coaches, fans and the club chairman.

As one chapter ends, another promising journey awaits.
