Hervé Renard has lifted the lid on a fascinating chapter in his coaching journey.
After leaving his role with the French women’s national team, the Senegal Football Federation reportedly reached out to him.
But in a surprising twist, it was his wife — who is Senegalese — who advised him to decline the offer for now.
Speaking to RFI, Renard made it clear the story isn’t over. “One day I’ll go if I’m called,” he said, hinting that the possibility remains open. Interestingly, he already owns a house in Senegal, showing his deep connection to the country.
However, the two-time AFCON-winning coach was firm: if he returns to Africa, it must be to lead a truly competitive team.
For Renard, it’s simple — challenge for greatness or step away from the game entirely.
A future reunion with the Lions of Teranga? Time will tell.
