Arsenal Eye Inter Milan Forward As One Of The Trio Striking Target In The Summer

Arsenal have added Lautaro Martinez to their shortlist of summer striker options, according to reports as Mikel Arteta plots his new look strikeforce.

The Gunners have just two recognised forwards at the club, Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah, with both players' contracts at the Emirates Stadium running out at the end of the season.

Former club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was released as a free agent so he could complete his move to Barcelona and the Gunners tried to replace him with Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic, but the forward chose Juventus as his next option.

And according to Calciomercato, Arsenal have listed Inter Milan striker Martinez as a possible striker option - but face competition from Premier League champions Manchester City.

Martinez has been in promising form for Simone Inzaghi's Nerazzurri, scoring 11 goals in 22 Serie A appearances so far this season, with Inter in control of the Scudetto race this season.

The 24-year-old, who scored 19 goals in all competitions for Inter last term, has a contract until 2026 with a reported £94million release clause alongside it.

Meanwhile, other reported Arsenal targets for the striker position include Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Real Sociedad's Alexander Isak.

As claimed by The Sun, Arsenal are plotting a remarkable £180million spending spree next summer in what would be a record window for the club, with Calvert-Lewin and Isak both considered in those plans.

Real Sociedad frontman Isak has a release clause worth £75m in his contract, while Everton ace Calvert-Lewin is valued at a hefty £60million.

Last summer, Arteta was able to splurge £150m on Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares.
