Dries Mertens, Napoli's top scorer in history with 125 goals has revealed how he would help Victor Osimhen adjust to life in Serie A.
Napoli are close to signing the Super Eagles forward at a record Nigerian transfer fee of around €50million.
The 21-year-old had drawn the attention of several clubs in the English Premier League and Spanish La Liga, but it is far from confirmed that the Partenopei has won the race in his signing.
Osimhen had previously voiced his concerns over racism issues in Italy before he was convinced to join Napoli.
When quizzed by the official Napoli’s official radio Kiss Kiss as cited by Sports Central on how he would like to help a young player like Osimhen, Mertens replied: "Of course we can. We can also play together Not knowing the language and the championship, it will be a little while. Finally, we must all be near him.
If all goes according to plan, Osimhen will be signed to the Napoli club at least until June 30, 2025 after a five-year contract has been struck.
The 2015 Under-17 World Cup winner has also attracted interest from Italian super clubs Juventus and AC Milan in the past.
