Chelsea Reportedly Opens Transfer Talks Over Third Signing

Chelsea have started talks on a deal for Lille striker Jonathan Ikone. The blues have been busy ahead of the summer transfer window. Ajax playmaker Hakim Ziyech has already signed while an agreement has been reached for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner.

And according to French media Le10 Sport as cited Sports Central, Chelsea are hoping to make Ikone their third signing.

They claim Blues chief Marina Granovskaia has started discussions with the Ligue 1 club about the forward.

However, the blues must face Inter Milan in the race to sign the 22-year-old, who has scored four goals in all competitions this season. Inter boss Antonio Conte could try to pip his former club for Ikone this summer.

According to the report, Chelsea are still yet to make a bid, talks are just beginning.

Chelsea manager Lampard has made a vocal statement about the club's transfer plans and insisted that the Blues are ready to strengthen.

Lampard said: "We have the good young players, we have had experienced players around them that have helped them this year, but we know there are little areas within the squad (we can improve). "Some of that's what we have already, some of that's how we might look to recruit going forward. "This period now with what's going on in the world has made it very difficult to plan too much on [transfers], how this is going to look in weeks or months going forward. "We have to have different versions of plans going forward in terms of how it looks.

Chelsea are currently third in the Premier League as Lampard's men want to secure Champions League football for next season.

Lampard discussed Chelsea's four biggest hopes, the Blues boss insisting that it’s in their hands.

He said: "It's easy to bring up momentum but I don't believe in it. You're only as good as your next game. "I didn't know what the expectations would be at the start of the season but our destiny is now in our hands. "I'm pretty happy with where we are. "We can't jump the gun though because we have seen in the last few weeks how things can change."
