Following
a 12-month transfer ban, Chelsea hope to make up for lost time by doing serious
business in the summer transfer window.
Contracts
have already been done with to sign Hakim Ziyech from Ajax and Timo Werner from
RB Leipzig, but they are believed to be far from finished.
A
number of stars have been linked to a move to West London in the coming months,
but none will delight fans as much as one. This
man is of course Kai Havertz.
There
has been speculation about the future of the 20-year-old who is said to be
attracting interest from clubs such as Manchester United, Bayern Munich,
Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Since
Chelsea are considered favourites for their commitment, they have received a
big boost as the Bundesliga season has ended.
As
cited by Sports Central according to Bild, Havertz would like to discuss his
future with the current club Bayer Leverkusen. The German club could not qualify for the Champions
League after finishing fifth in the Bundesliga, which means that their only
hope of playing in the European elite competition would come from winning the
Europa League.
Some
have suggested that Havertz might be tempted to stay for another season with
Leverkusen, but the 20-year-old will surely be interested in challenging
himself at the highest level.
It
is alleged that the deal to sign Havertz could cost £75 million, a significant fee
for any club given the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. But since Chelsea recently faced a global transfer ban,
it looks like they could be financially better off as they are prepare for the
summer window.
The London club have been the fastest out of the blocks with two important signings and it looks like they are not finished yet.
In fact, they are just getting started. If they could make a deal for Kai Havertz, it would be a damn coup, especially if they beat some of the biggest European clubs.
