Messi Shocks Barcelona As He Has Reportedly Accepted An Offer To Leave Camp Nou

Argentine international Lionel Messi had made the headlines in almost every newspaper in the world after rumors had circulated that the Argentine striker is planning to leave Barcelona in the summer of 2021 when his current contract expires.

However, this was only the case a few months ago, the club intending to offer their best footballer of all time a contract extension until 2023 and an increase in his already high salary.

The sudden change in Messi's decision to stay at Barcelona until 2023 is not yet known. However, the club captain has repeatedly expressed his rejection towards the club on social media this season.

Messi had gone to social media earlier in the season to fight club director Eric Abidal after the former player criticized the team's performance.

The Argentinian striker was also one of the first to post on social media regarding the false allegations that the players did not accept a cut in wages due to COVID-19 during the lockdown period.

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo as reported by Sports Central, the captain spoke ill of his club for the first time, stating that the current team did not have what it takes to win the Champions League and signings like Neymar and Lautaro Martinez are what the club need to get back to their winning ways again.

It seems that Messi has finally released all of his feelings that he had held against the club for several years, and the departure of Arthur Melo and the signing of Miralem Pjanic could have been the final blow to the feelings and attachments of the attacker towards the club.

According to reports, Messi has already decided on his new club as Diaro GOL reports that the Barcelona man has agreed to sign with his former youth club Newell's Old Boys.

Leo Messi had spent 6 years in the Argentine club, which was his youth club at the time before signing for the Blaugrana. The captain of the Argentine national team has never refused to speak about his youth club and has repeatedly declared that he will one day return to Oldell's Old Boys.

Meanwhile, If Lionel Messi is to leave in the summer of 2021, then the board must seek a possible replacement, such as Paulo Dybala, Raheem Sterling or Jadon Sancho.
