Anthony Joshua On Tyson Fury's Request For A Double-fight In 2022

Anthony Joshua saw a super-fight with Tyson Fury for the undisputed world heavyweight title fall through and now the Gypsy King says they can meet in 2022.

Anthony Joshua has told Tyson Fury he will beat him whenever he is finally ready to face him.

Joshua has welcomed Fury’s claims he wants to face him in Riyadh in March and then in September in the UK in two of his final five fights before he retires.

He was ready to take on Fury in Jeddah this summer before the Gypsy King pulled out to honour his obligations for a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder.

miled the WBA Super, IBF and WBO heavyweight king as cited by Sports Central: “Finally, finally, another one for the resume!. “Let’s get it on! “What an honour it would be to fight Tyson, get another great fighter on my record, beat him, and then we would move forward. “We know his history. He pulled out of a couple of fights, it just happens. He’s someone who pulls out of fights. Even with the Wilder situation it happened again. “Good luck to him and we’ll see him some time. Whenever he’s ready, we’ll be here waiting.

Joshua, 31, was gutted when his fight with Fury for the undisputed world title fell through and says his September 25 clash with Oleksandr Usyk is perhaps even bigger.

The 60,000 tickets for the showdown at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium sold out within 24 hours and Joshua says he is excited about fighting the former undisputed cruiserweight king.

He said: “The Fury fight would have been brilliant for boxing. “It’s the fight everyone wants deep down. “Belt, no belt, belts better, it would have been a brilliant fight to have. “That didn’t happen, but look where we are now, Joshua versus Usyk. It’s probably bigger or just as big as that fight. “We will always try and deliver, that’s one thing about us.

He added: “Even though it’s not Fury, it’s still a great fight. Even though it’s annoying, I’m glad I can still take on an opponent who makes me want to get up in the morning because I want to improve and get better.

Joshua is ignoring those who say Usyk is too small to beat him and claims he is training like this is his hardest fight.

The Watford walloper said: “There’s a lot of talk about size, a good big guy beats a good little guy. “If that’s the case why I am getting up in the morning to train? Why I am sitting in ice baths? “Why I am passionate about it? Because I’m fighting a good guy. “The guys have done a great job, even though the Fury fight fell through. We’re still taking on a good fight and I’m looking forward to the challenge. * Joshua v Usyk is live on Sky Sports Box Office on September 25. Book now at skysports.com/Joshua.
