Barcelona End Four-year Legal Dispute With Neymar

Barcelona have ended their lengthy legal battle against former star Neymar.

The Catalans first sued the Brazilian, 29, in 2017, claiming he had breached his contract.

They accused Neymar of breaching his contract after leaving for Paris Saint-Germain just a year after collecting a bonus for renewing his deal.

The Spanish giants demanded Neymar pay back that undisclosed fee, plus an additional £7.8million in damages.

Barcelona brought the case towards the Spanish Football Federation so that it could be passed on to the French Football Federation and to Fifa.

The contract in question was meant to run until 2021 and included a unilateral buyout clause of £190m, which the French club paid in full.

Neymar responded to the court case by criticising Barcelona's owners.

And he demanded another bonus related to his contract renewal worth a reported £22m.

He even sued Barcelona for £3million over unpaid salary and issues around his 2017 transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

And it appears his pressure has paid off, with current president Joan Laporta ending the legal battle.

A club statement read as cited by Sports Central: "A transactional agreement between the club and the player has been signed to end the legal cases that were pending between the two parties: three claims related to labour and a civil case.
