Raheem Sterling's Future To Be Sorted Out After Euro, According To Report

Manchester City will look to discuss a new contract with Raheem Sterling after the European Championship.

Sterling has shone for England over the tournament, Tuesday’s crucial opener against Germany his third goal in four games.

The forward has two years left to run on his existing deal at the Etihad Stadium, which can reach £300,000 a week if certain bonuses are hit.

Sportsmail understands that City are calm about that situation but are preparing to sit down with the 26-year-old over the summer to hold talks over his future.

Sterling is conducting all negotiations surrounding his career himself, aided by two lawyers - as Sportsmail revealed in April.

Last season proved a personal disappointment for Sterling, who had lost his place in Pep Guardiola’s preferred starting XI towards the end of the campaign before a surprise inclusion for the Champions League final defeat by Chelsea in Porto.

Sterling still finished the campaign by hitting double figures in the Premier League as City clinched the title at a canter. There is hope he can recapture his consistency of 2019, when he struck 43 goals for club and country in the calendar year.

City also have Gabriel Jesus, Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan with contracts up in 2023, with the club maintaining that they have no interest in allowing the latter to leave this summer.

Guardiola recently claimed that the Premier League champions have to ‘shake and move’ to refresh their squad before the new season as they pursue moves for Harry Kane and Jack Grealish.

Decisions will need to be made on unsettled players, including Barcelona and Atletico Madrid target Bernardo Silva, but outgoings are dependent on the financial state of the transfer market.
