Alfie Burden Joins In The Movement Against Racism


In what seems a great move of solidarity in the movement for the death of George Floyd, who was reportedly murdered by Minneapolis police in May. Snooker player Alfie Burden is said to have took a knee at the start of his Championship League match against Ryan Day on Wednesday.     


The 43-year old according to Sports Central made the gesture immediately after the just the break-off at the beginning of the opening frame in his Group 12 match-up against Day.


Paddington born Burden is believed to have made the gesture in solidarity also bowing his before raising his hands in the air before getting on his feet.


However, this is also the latest example of a sports star using the opportunity to show the support and unity for the movement seeking for justice over the death of Floyd.


Many athletes across sport related games have followed suit for the justice over the injustice meted on George Floyd in Minneapolis. Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin was charged with murder in the death of unarmed 46-year-old Floyd after footage of the white officer kneeling on Floyd’s neck prompted a wave of protests across the United States.


Meanwhile, the likes of Liverpool and some football players have shown their support with different demonstration for justice and fight to end racism in the world.
