Rohr Expected To Put Pen To Paper In A New Contract Next Week

Report according to Central Sport has it that the Nigeria Football Federation is expecting the Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr to put pen to paper on a new deal in the coming week. Recalled that the contract proposal was handed to the German tactician last month, and it was rumoured that NFF might hire another coach for the national team should the German refused to agree to terms in the contract. But the speculation has been quashed by the Federation president as false.

Having been informed in the contract proposal on the level of changes said to be included in the agreement as one of the changes is accepting to reside in the country, and it’s believed Rohr has no problem with that.

An extract from the NFF communiqué as revealed on Monday read: “The Executive Committee mandated the General Secretary to liaise with the Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser, Mr Gernot Rohr, with a view to concluding all matters around Mr Rohr’s new contract within the next one week.

However, Rohr, who took over the Super Eagles job in 2016, is expecting his contract to expire in June and is willing to extend his stay with the national team. He’s also believed to have been working ahead of next upcoming games after the coronavirus era.

Meanwhile, the German gaffer has overseen and taken the Super Eagles to the 2018 World Cup in Russia where they were eliminated in the group stage. He also led the national team to 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt, where the team won the bronze medal after seeing off Tunisia in third place.
