AFCON Final Fallout: Morocco Takes CAF To Task Over Disciplinary Rulings

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has finally spoken out following CAF’s controversial disciplinary decisions from the chaotic AFCON final between Morocco and Senegal on January 18, 2026.

What should have been a historic night of football spiraled into disorder — Senegalese players walked off the pitch, fans invaded the field, and serious security lapses unfolded in full view of the world.

After reviewing CAF’s rulings, the FRMF believes the sanctions handed down fail to reflect the gravity of the incidents or their impact on player safety, competition integrity, and the reputation of African football.

In a formal letter to CAF’s President, Morocco made its objections clear. Now, the FRMF has officially filed an appeal, seeking a fair and proportionate reassessment in line with CAF regulations.

The battle off the pitch has officially begun.
