From Irete To The NPFL – Kun Khalifat FC CEO Michael Chukwudi Amaefula Celebrates Historic Promotion

What a moment for Kun Khalifat FC! After years of steady progress, the Owerri-based club has officially secured promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) — and CEO Michael Chukwudi Amaefula is soaking it all in with pride and gratitude.

Amaefula told journalists shortly after the team’s promotion was confirmed as cited by Sports Central: “This is a moment I’ll cherish for a long time. “It’s the result of hard work, consistency, and belief — especially from the players who trusted me from day one.”

Throwback to 10 months ago at the NLO Playoffs in Aba — Amaefula boldly declared his vision: “I’ll take this club to the top division.” Fast forward to today, and that dream has become reality. “Massive thanks to everyone who played a part in this journey — the real MVPs. This success belongs to all of us.”

From Grassroots to Glory Kun Khalifat FC began as a grassroots team in Irete, Owerri (Imo State), and has since become one of the fastest-rising clubs in Nigerian football. In just three seasons, they've climbed from the Nigerian Nationwide League (NLO) to the Nigeria National League (NNL) — and now to the NPFL. An inspiring rise for a club built on local talent and long-term vision.

But according to Amaefula, this is just the beginning.

He said: “We’re not stopping here. This is a stepping stone. We’re going to keep building and improving. I’ve been planning for this moment — now it’s time to take it even further.”

A big shoutout to everyone in the Kun Khalifat FC family — from Irete to the NPFL, the journey has just begun. Keep your eyes on this team. The dream is real.
