Liverpool Will Face Man United And Arsenal In The United States This Summer

Liverpool will return to the United States for their pre-season tour this summer, with games scheduled against Arsenal and Manchester United.

The Reds will play the Gunners in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on July 31 before jetting to Columbia, South Carolina to face rivals Manchester United on August 3.

It has long been expected that Liverpool will return to the States for the first time since 2019, though the locations had not been confirmed - with some originally thinking they might return to Boston, Massachusetts, where owners Fenway Sports Group are based.

Those games will be a dress rehearsal for Jurgen Klopp’s successor who, all going to plan, will be confirmed by then. Xabi Alonso is still the front-runner, with Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi and well-connected Sporting boss Ruben Amorim also high on the shortlist.

It will be Liverpool's first pre-season without Klopp in charge since 2015 and marks a strong contrast with last summer.

In July and August 2023, Klopp's men took in Germany, Singapore, and Preston, where they hosted Darmstadt.

Manchester United are returning Stateside once again following their jaunt there last summer.

Their players will be hoping for a less demanding schedule this time around as they racked up the air miles last time out.

United began on the east coast with a match against Arsenal in New Jersey, and ended by taking on Borussia Dortmund in Las Vegas, with trips to San Diego and Houston in between.
