The Super Eagles are already without the likes of Moses Simon and Kenneth Omeruo ahead a crunch clash with the Leone Stars, but that's not the end of their injury woes
Nigeria will reportedly be without Frank Onyeka in their next qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations against Sierra Leone on November 13 and 17.
According to the Nigeria Football Federation as gathered by Sports Central, Onyeka will miss the doubleheader due to an injury with Abdullahi Shehu called-up as his replacement.
Details about Onyeka’s injury are unknown, but the 22-year old played the full minutes of Midtjylland’s 4-0 victory over Copenhagen.
However, his absence may be due to the travel restrictions placed on Scandinavian countries as a precaution against Covid-19.
Shehu, who left Burssaspor to join Omonia Nicosia in September, now has a chance to add to his 27 international caps.
The 27-year-old was not in the squad that played Algeria and Tunisia in last month’s international friendly games.
The three-time African Champions will host Sierra Leone at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin on Friday, while the return leg takes place at the Siaka Steven’s Stadium four days later..
