Mikel Arteta Wants Arsenal To Move For Juventus' Star Manuel Locatelli

The Gunners are said to be in the market for Manuel Locatelli amid a Juventus fire sale in the new year, with the Italian giants struggling in the league, going an entire month without a win in September. The Old Lady are believed to be looking to get rid of the squad's dead wood, with the Italian international on the list of players they deem to be sellable.

The Italian international played a pivotal part in his country's Euro 2020 campaign that saw them beat England on penalties to lift the trophy at Wembley last summer, and was targeted by Arsenal in the summer but chose to stay in Italy.

Despite the North London's side failed bid to sign the player earlier this year, they are believed to be back in for the 24-year-old according to Italian news outlet Calciomercato.com. Despite the hype around the former AC Milan youth player, his time at Juventus hasn't been one for the record books, with the midfielder falling down the pecking order this season after being blighted by injuries.

With the summer additions of Leandro Parades and Paul Pogba, as well as competition from Adrien Rabiot, Locatelli has found himself out of favour with boss Massimiliano Allegri. The midfielder is currently fighting to be fit in time for Juventus' match with Bologna on Sunday, with his side currently eight in Serie A.

The pressure is currently on Allegri who is struggling to get his side playing to his tune as they fell to a shock defeat against newly promoted Monza before the international break, with the manager coming out to claim he doesn't fear being sacked in a recent interview.

Other clubs will surely be licking their lips at the thought of signing Locatelli, with Brighton and Newcastle also thought to have been interested in the midfielder earlier this year.
