Manchester United could move for Neymar this summer should Cristiano Ronaldo leave Old Trafford.
Despite finishing last season as the club’s top scorer, Ronaldo’s future in Manchester is uncertain with reports claiming he has serious concerns over the club’s transfer strategy this summer.
The 37-year-old is said to have already confided to members of his close circle that he could leave in the coming months with his agent Jorge Mendes said to have met with new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly where a possible move to Stamford Bridge was discussed.
Ronaldo was United’s only consistent goal scorer last season and his departure would leave another major void to fill in what is already developing into a complicated transfer window for Erik ten Hag.
Should Ronaldo find a new club, United are one of the few sides in world football in a position to sign Neymar this summer, according to RMC Sport.
According to the publication, the Brazilian superstar is now seriously considering a move away from Paris Saint-Germain.
It has been reported that new football advisor Luis Campos is looking to move on the 30-year-old with the club owners in agreement.
RMC claim United could be interested in signing the former Barcelona star should Ronaldo leave. Chelsea are also named as a possible destination with the Blues looking to sign a new forward after giving up on Romelu Lukaku.
Newcastle United are also an option although previous reports have claimed Neymar would have no interest in a move to Tyneside.
PSG face a number of obstacles in offloading Neymar this summer, namely his salary, said to be £670,000-per-week which is among the largest in world football.
A clause in his contract will also be automatically triggered on 1 July which will extend his deal to 2026, before the same happens again on 1 July 2023..
